It all started on a rainy summer day in New York City—
Priya was at a friend's birthday party casually sipping her drink, trying to navigate the sea of strangers when, like a plot twist in a Bollywood movie, he appeared.
**Sumeet**
A handsome 6ft gabru, and probably someone who could've walked straight out of a rom-com, wearing that perfect “I’m-too-cool-to-care” smile. There was something about the way he walked into the room—like he was owning the entire NYC nightlife, but without even trying.
He spotted Priya across the room and, in true rom-com style, their eyes met.
They exchanged a few lines of banter...Priya was convinced he was flirting, but Sumeet was just having fun—until he something cheesy happened...he felt this attraction that was like GRAVITY and suddenly, she wasn’t just another pretty face at the party—
Random instagram messages turned to regularly texting to weekly phone calls lasting hours…they had quickly turned into best friends.
They had navigated the inevitable awkward phase of pretending to be just friends when everyone around them knew it was already obvious they were anything but. Their friendship was gravitational, like they were always pulled back together.
But, of course, the inevitable happened. Love, as it does, snuck up on them when they least expected it.

The rest, as they say, is history. From that birthday party to a love story, it just made sense: inevitable, and impossible to escape.
It was April 2025 - Priya thought she was getting dressed for a fancy dinner at the Baccarat Hotel in Manhattan to celebrate moving in together. Sumeet insisted she got ready in a nice black dress and that she go get her nails done (but he'll make "suggestions" like those, so it's definitely not out of the norm)...but it gave Priya the hunch that maybe he was proposing.
While at dinner, Sumeet looked calm - like his usual self and told Priya they were going to a broadway musical right after. They were approaching the end of dinner and nothing out of the norm had happened! Priya definitely didn't think it was happening and was actually getting a little irritated because she was feeling let down from the hype she created in her mind and even texted her best friend saying "he's not proposing tonight...I was wrong"!
Well...to her surprise, he took her out on the rooftop balcony to check it out for her upcoming birthday, but instead...proposed. The second surprise?? A trip to Paris 3 hours after the proposal (which they barely made).
It was a moment where when you pause to look around, you feel like your life is the ending of the best rom-com.
